So at the moment I am working as a web/it-developer at a company here in Norway. Today I had to fix a bug that had to do with rendering the website on Safari (both mac and Windows) which means that it does not support WebKit / KHTML. So it was a crucial bug to fix. Not that we have that many Safari or Webkit users. Anyway. It is all about making the website look the same for all our users no matter which type of browser they have.
Well, so I fixed the “bug”. Then I found out that in order to fix the layout on the rest of the website I had to copy and paste the fix on 20+ files (just guessing here!). Well such engineering can happen to anyone. What shocks me is that the company behind this website was paid some huge amount of dollars for the job. And I must say: Companies who creates such non-practial code should be put out of job as soon as possible. And those who hires such companies should not pay them…
