Today I had to start up my Vista laptop. There was two reasons for this. 1) I had to do some work on my way to job (train) and I also wanted to see how the Windows Dell Mobile Broadband application fixed the train ride.
That’s how you find out how great an OS Linux really is. I had some really bad experiences during this session:
- The laptop took forever to start up.
- After login it took for ever to get programs to start. Windows Explorer also crashed so I had to restart the computer.
- I spent 40 minutes just on getting to the desktop. After 50 minutes I had finally sent a few emails.
It was the most annoying experience I’ve ever had. After reading the Bill Gates email to some employees I wished I was mr. Gates, and I would probably have fired someone. Most likely the person who was responsible for Vista. I wonder why the higher ups and the developers at MS have ditched XP, the XP-code and then some to build this crap of software. Unfortunately I am not mr. Gates and so I don’t have the privilege telling people they no longer have a job at my company.
50 minutes into the train ride on my Linux I would most likely have:
- Checked email
- Fixed some bugs on some of my php-websites
- Checked some websites
- Fallen a sleep. Now I am pissed and can’t get any sleep.
